18. Boil a handful of willow bark and devil’s claw another book by a quarter of water for 10 minutes over low heat. Remove from heat and let stand for a few minutes and strain. Drink 1 cup of this preparation before each meal.
19. Mix 2 drops of clove essential oil, 2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and 4 drops of camphor oil in 2 tablespoons olive oil. Apply through gentle massage on the sore areas.
- People with arthritis should follow the following recommendations:
- Stay slim, since overweight requires more effort and pressure on joints.
- Take, for at least eight glasses of water a day.
- Eat fish such as sardines, salmon and trout, as they have fatty acids such as Omega 3 to help counteract the inflammation characteristic of arthritis.
- Avoid eating the following vegetables: peppers, eggplant, beans, tomatoes and white potatoes because they contain solamina that interferes with muscle enzymes and causes pain.
- Avoid red meat, pork, milk and dairy products, coffee, paprika, salt, snuff, alcohol and everything that contains sugar.
- The person suffering deartritis must be active, since inactivity weakens the muscles which support the joints and increases the stiffness and arthritic pain. Hence the importance of exercises like the following:
- Gentle stretching exercises to tone muscles, serve warm up for other exercises and can be performed in bed or in a bathtub full of warm water.
Resistance exercises (wrist weights, ankle weights or other) which strengthen the muscles to compensate for the damage to the joints tions.
Aerobic exercises like walking and swimming are not recommended activities that put stress on joints, such as jogging. It requires approval by the doctor before starting any exercise program and once approved the program should start slowly and increase the repetitions gradually. As soon feel pain, stop and rest.
