The drug of the papaya used in the treatment of dyspepsia is extracted from the latex obtained from the fruits.

Currently, the term dyspepsia refers to any pain or discomfort located in the central part of the upper abdomen, similar to what is commonly known as indigestion. In addition to pain in the upper abdomen, may have bloating or abdominal swelling, heartburn, bloating, nausea or vomiting, and even early satiety, especially after food intake, although the symptoms are not always related to it.
