the weekend in our special herbal digestive we played among others with liquorice stands out from the others. This plant has a long tradition of using medicinal plants and their benefits are many and varied, and often take place so often in our articles.

In this case we speak of cancer, specifically colon cancer, as a group of researchers from the School of Medicine, Vanderbilt University in Nashville have associated the use of licorice with the prevention of cancer.

Licorice inhibits the activity of the enzyme 11-beta-HSD2, which in turn blocks the activity of COX-2 protein, which is achieved by preventing the development of tumors and in turn inhibit their growth and metastasis, the least in experimental models of colorectal cancer with those who worked the researchers.

In fact, researchers have shown that the use of this medicinal plant has no side effects in the arteries or any part of the circulatory system, which it can occur with the implementation of conventional anti-inflammatory drugs commonly used for the prevention of this cancer.

As explained Paul Stewart and Stephen Prescott, researchers discussed the research, it is a very important research by providing a very effective alternative treatment for colorectal cancer treatment.

If the drug is effective in eliminating the discomfort, there are people who resort to medicinal plants as the last of the remedies

Those who sell these products claim that can be removed from a stomach pain or discomfort typical head until conditions more severe complications such as kidney, colon and gastritis.

Sellers of medicinal herbs, suggests that people know the benefits of plants and ask other procedures and applications.

One of the most expensive herbs is the root of the reed, to cure ailments in the blood circulation, abdominal pain, gastritis, and others that are common today.

People who buy medicinal herbs have great faith in the cure of diseases, so consume them, and have even heard comments from customers that the drugs do not make the same effect as the herbalist.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

Contains a substance that has properties similar to those of cortisol, a glucocorticoid.

Besides acting as an anti-inflammatory licorice works as an expectorant which is beneficial in cases of asthma. You can use a licorice supplement containing glycyrrhizin. It should eat between 200 and 800 milligrams of the drug daily. Also get licorice tablets that contain no glycyrrhizin. However, these are not helpful for asthma.

Precautions Use of licorice for six weeks and then discontinue use for two weeks. Eat foods high in potassium such as bananas or citrus juice during the time you use licorice. This is not possible to use a potassium supplement.

Do not use licorice if you have glaucoma or hypertension. Nor should it be used by those suffering from breast cancer or other estrogen-sensitive cancer, endometriosis or illness (or rather changes as it currently is not regarded as a disease) fibrocystic breast.

Grape seed extract and Pycnogenol

Both contain certain types of flavonoids (pigment that gives color to many plants) that help prevent asthma attacks caused by allergens in the air. The flavonoids in Pycnogenol are obtained from the French maritime pine bark. Both grape seed extract and Pycnogenol are achieved in the form of capsules or tablets.

Garlic and onions

Inhibits certain substances that promote inflammation. In tests on guinea pigs found that onion extract reduced its asthmatic response to inhaled allergens. Onions contain a flavonoid called quercetin which helps relax the bronchial tubes. It also inhibits the proliferation of cells that produce histamine, a substance that promotes inflammation and swelling. The onion also contains other substances that have a isotiocinatos calls antiasthmatic effect.

Quercetin supplements are achieved as a tablet. However, some of these are not well absorbed. Some researchers recommend taking along with bromelain quercetin with bromelain, a mixture of enzymes derived from pineapple that can help better absorption.

Precautions – quercetin increases the time that many drugs remain in the body. In some cases this can have positive effects but may increase the risk of side effects of these drugs. For this reason we recommend taking supplements of quercetin together with some drugs such as cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune) and nifedipine (Adalat, Procardia). Nor should it be combined with antibiotics belonging to the class of quinolones as (ciprofloxacin (Cipro), levofloxacin (Levaquin), norfloxacin (Noroxin), ofloxacin (Floxin) and trovafloxacin (Trovan) as it may interfere with their action.

In test tube studies, have been shown to cause chromosomal mutations quercetin, so, in theory, supplements with large amounts of quercetin could favor the occurrence of birth defects, this has not been adequately studied in humans or animals .

Tylophora asthmatica

This is a plant that has been used in India to treat asthma. It is believed that the leaves contain substances asthmatica Tylophora antihistaminic and antispasmodic. One study found that a group of patients 200 milligrams of leaves of Tylophora asthmatica twice daily for a period of six days reduced their symptoms and respiratory function improved during treatment and for a period of up to two weeks after it has ended . The asthmatica Tylophora is available as capsules. A suggested dose is 200 to 400 milligrams twice a day.
